Frequently Asked Questions

How long has my102.7 been on the air?

It’s hard to believe but May 15th, 2015 is our birthday, time sure flies.

How do you guys select the music you play?

The station went on the air with about 2500 songs we borrowed from some guys helping us get started. We quickly started to add music. In fact if we played the new music straight through it would be over 13 hours of new songs. One of our goals is to play stuff you just aren’t going to hear anywhere else. Commercial radio stations could never follow Johnny Cash with Pink Floyd, but we’re enjoying being different.

What do you charge for a public service announcement?

We don’t. One of the goals of this project is to make local people aware of what’s going on right here in Paulding County. We want to promote upcoming events to our listeners and provide the organizers a vehicle to get the word out about their occasion. That being said we must be contacted a minimum of 3 weeks before your event.

I love the music and really appreciate not having to endure a big block of commercials 3 times an hour, please tell me you won’t start doing that.

Don’t worry; we don’t like those commercials either!

Can I advertise my business on the air

Ahh, now that’s a good question. The license we we’re granted from the FCC allow us to partner with “Program Sponsors”. In brief that means we can’t air traditional radio commercials. Our Sponsors underwrite our programming and in return we air a message about their business. We can give the business’ location, hours, scope of operation. There are just a few subtle differences we must adhere to. Oh, and by the way, we’d love to have your business sponsor MY102.7.

When I listen to this station in my car a message comes across the radio screen, how’s that work?

That is called the RDS (Radio Data System). Turns out it’s technology that’s been around for decades but a lot of radio manufactures just started including it in the last 10 years. A lot of stations use it to give song and artist information or for self-promotion. We made the initial investment, (wasn’t cheap) with a different goal in mind. We didn’t want to just tell you what the song is or who we are. We chose to use it as a different way to promote activities in our communities or thank our sponsors for their financial support.
